It feels wrong, like it’s bringing the worst of trading & speculation into other areas. Speculative trading doesn't grow any pie, it just redistributes slices while platforms skim the crust. Something every important just happened that I need everyone to internalize I made this limited edition hat and hand delivered it to some of the most OG Farcasters @bbroad made a workflow for it with Emerge I made it the featured workflow and used notifications to share it to @tryemerge users Then @martin clanked a $37 token and it’s going viral We manufactured the moment, Martin capitalized and is making fees (good on him for recognizing a moment) This is 100% the thesis for me and why the feature to tokenize workflows matters so we can be the launchpad in this round trip. Whether we build on existing launchpad tech or not depends on various tradeoffs with how we can pair the tokens to $emerge but it’s coming and you’re not properly positioned yet

why don’t we tokenize money and then sell eachother the money for larger amounts of money, into oblivion where we all get rich

I think we must tokenize social/communities to get to the next phase of the internet. It’s going to be painful as we figure it out but the end state could be glorious.

Imo, decentralized social makes apps compete for users as their portal to the timeline via only a few factors. Farcaster's interface is better. Farcaster's built-in wallet is better. Farcaster's rewards are more transparent. Farcaster doesn't force me to have to remember to toggle "don't tokenize my post" every time I want to share something. The timeline goes both places, as can the audience. Personally, I see no compelling reasons to switch at the moment from Farcaster to TBA.

I like the base app but hate the chilling effect of having to choose whether to tokenize every single post. I just want to share some thoughts, not have an existential crisis. I suppose if you’re trying to curate a certain kind of experience, you’d want someone who either doesn’t care or cares too much.

Okay so in my limited knowledge it seems like this: You get people to have little mini data centers in their house: You either pay them in credits to energy or pay them in tokens (because tokenize all the things) And people who opt in to using the infrastructure managed by others pay a fee to use the infrastructure. Probably would need to balance out how much the startup cost would be versus how much the credits would be But a community built structure (aren’t eth nodes kind of like this?) could eventually counteract the web2 influence.
