🌺🕯️ It is with great sadness that we remember Marine Jonathan “Jonna” Wigley, of Zulu Company, 45 Commando Royal Marines, who tragically lost his life on 5 December 2006 during operations in southern Helmand, Afghanistan. Born in Melton Mowbray and raised in Grantham, Jonathan joined the Royal Marines at just 17. He served with distinction in Northern Ireland, with the Fleet Protection Group, and later with 45 Commando’s Reconnaissance Troop, showing immense courage and determination throughout his service. Jonathan was known for his tenacity, professionalism, and infectious humour. A dedicated Royal Marine, an accomplished gymnast, and a loyal friend, he was loved by all who knew him. His family, friends, and comrades remember him as someone “full of life, funny, clever, and who never gave up on anything.” He died doing the job he loved, among his fellow Marines. His sacrifice will never be forgotten. We will remember him.
