I’m so grateful for all the love and support I’ve received on this drop, for me and for my art. Having done this for years now, I’ll be honest, it can get mentally exhausting. Running auctions, promoting myself nonstop… it takes a toll. I keep trying to manage my expectations, to shift my energy, and in some ways I have, and it gets better, but it’s still a challenge. When you pour so much of yourself into what you do, it’s easy to take things personally when they don’t go as hoped. I know it’s not rational, lol, but feelings don’t always care about logic. So I’m just letting myself move through it, navigating my own thoughts, riding the waves as they come. These days haven’t been the easiest, but they’ve also been pretty good. Sometimes the past echoes in my head like a repetitive song, uninvited, unending… I wish I could forget the past; I wish a rainstorm would form in my thoughts, a hurricane in my heart, and wash everything away, so that no trace of those days would remain. Those old colorful tapes… each one holds the sound of a certain day. A day when I would rewind them with a pencil just to hear again the voice of a friend who is no longer here, or a melody that used to lift my spirits. Those days were simple, unhurried, unfiltered, without cloud storage. I recorded the sound onto the tape, and my heart onto the moment. Now those same tapes are just memories, like the scent of our old house, or the light that shone through the sheer curtains, making the dust dance in the air. Sometimes I wish I could play all those sounds again; not through a speaker, but from within… where the voices are still alive, and the past never falls silent.
