Today has been a roller coaster of emotions so far. This week, I was nagging about how lonely it feels, but at the same time, I’m fascinated by how much stuff you can do when you actually have the time for it. This week was good — it could’ve been better if I’d been able to mint the Warplet NFT, but I accept it.

While searching for Garry Kasparov’s game against Deep Blue, I stumbled upon this clip of him facing a 13 year old Magnus Carlsen. What struck me is Kasparov’s willingness to confront the new - whether it’s technology or the next generation. I haven’t really paid attention to the world of chess before and am newly fascinated. I’m certain this won’t be news to this channel, but TIL that Kasparov dropped 32 NFTs in 2021 of iconic moments from his life. On crypto, Kasparov has said: “If you followed my career and read about my early interest in computers and technology, you should not be surprised that I was very excited when I recognized the value of cryptocurrencies and NFTs. This goes all the way back to the ‘80s; I always tried to be at the cutting edge. It started with chess. But I also saw an opportunity to use computers and new tools to advance individual freedoms. it’s such an interesting subject, and i really love this response — it reminds me how photography, especially with film, has this almost scientific, exploratory side to it each photo has its own story and character, and despite its flaws, that’s what makes it so beautiful while digging through my archives, i found this test — back then, i was fascinated by film contact sheets and tried to recreate one without using a scanner, using an old roll of film i found at my parents’ place, inside a camera body that had a light leak issue i love seeing this result, as it gives the photo a whole new dimension

Embroidery has been my go-to stress release this month. It’s been so nice to relax back into some hand crafts and make gifts and presents for the holidays ❤️ I’ve been trying to get back in to illustration and this feels like drawing with thread in a way I’m fascinated by, the shapes and figures that come out are different than a drawn medium but you still get a strong sense of figures and patterns. Also helps me do some user research for future work projects in the crafting space! Making things is so important ❤️

Today's class was incredibly insightful! I gained a deeper understanding of the distinction between tokens and blockchains, and I was particularly fascinated by the concepts of fungible and non-fungible tokens. The evolution of the web from Web1 to Web3 is truly remarkable, from the Read Era of Web1 where information was primarily consumed, to the Read and Write Era of Web2 where users could create and share content, and now to the Read, Write, and Own Era of Web3 where users have ownership and control over their digital assets. I found it interesting that tokens can be earned through participating in projects or purchased to contribute to a project's growth, and the combination of blockchain technology and tokens empowers users with ownership. One key takeaway that really stood out to me today was that all cryptocurrencies are indeed tokens, but not all tokens are cryptocurrencies, which helps us better understand the different types of digital assets out there.
